Sambar

Ingredients

Thoor Dal 200 gms, 50 ml Oil, Salt to taste, 1 tbsp Chilly powder, little turmeric, 10 gm Tamarind paste, 2 Onions and vegetables that you like 500 gms. Little Jaggery if you have = 20 gms.

First cook the Thoor Dhal for 20 minutes in stove, with 4 to 1 water. then mash it for 5 minutes, like paste.

Now in a frying pan, heat oil fo r2 minutes, put the cut vegetables, onion, turmeric, Chilly powder and tamarind paste and stir fry it.

Now add the dhal mix with water. Add salt to taste, boiling for 10 minutes. Add the piece of jaggery.

You are ready to serve Sambar, with rice or idlies or Dosai.

There are sambar powders in market available which gives little extra flavour. MTR is good. Instead of Chilly powder use one Table spoon of the mix.
